Booster Club Meeting Minutes 3-25-09

Present: David Luttrell, Trish & Joe Broz, Mike Jones, David Colbert, Maria Paredes-Stuart, Lisa Fields, Susan Lisheron, Terrie Marquette, Jhaki Gonsalvez, Roberto & Marisela Delgado, Kris Bloomfield

I. Meeting called to order by president David Luttrell at 7:07

II. Reading of minutes from previous meeting. A motion was made to approve the minutes by David Colbert, second motion by Lisa Fields. Motion passes to approve minutes.

III. Treasurer’s report: Maria reports that $194.00 has been collected so far for the banquet. Orders are due 4-6-09. We made $104.00 from Fuddruckers dinner after the last home game. There will no longer be a cost to the boosters for a team banner in the cafeteria. The Art department will be taking on this project. The Fall fundraiser (calendars) brought in $880.00. The current balance is $5,468.21. A motion to approve the Treasurer’s report was made with a second and vote passes to approve.

IV. Election of Officers

Maria Paredes-Stuart is nominated for Treasurer position. No other nominations are made. Susan Lisheron makes a motion to approve the nomination and Lisa Fields seconds motion. Motion passes with membership vote.
Lisa Fields nominates Susan Lisheron and Terrie Marquette as co-chair for the Secretary position. No other nominations are made. David Colbert makes a motion to approve this nomination and Lisa Fields makes the second motion. Members vote and nomination passes.
Mike Jones has been nominated for Vice President. Trish Broz nominates Roberto Delgado for position also. Both men give short speech on their merits. The idea of co-chairing this position is brought up by Roberto. With the plan of a fish fry in the works for next year, we may need more people helping with this position. David Colbert makes a motion to have co-chairs for Vice President, Lisa Fields makes a second and the motion passes with the membership. The motion to approve Mike Jones and Roberto Delgado as co-Vice Presidents is made by David Colbert, a second motion is made by Lisa Fields and the motion passes with the members.
Mike Jones calls for nominations for President. Lisa Fields nominates David Luttrell and Susan Lisheron seconds the nomination. No other nominations are made. Trish Broz makes a motion to approve David for President and Susan Lisheron seconds the motion. Membership passes with a vote.

V. Old Business

Membership update: Susan reports that we are still accepting new members and have received one new one today. For Varsity there are 19 members for 26 players. JVA has 10 members for 18 players and JVB has 8 members for 18 players.
Car Wash: We made around $1,400.00. The captains did a great job with their teams. Maria suggests we recognize the workers. David will make a recognition at the banquet. It was also suggested that we add member names to the banner and display at the banquet.
Senior pictures: Suzanna & Jim have received all pictures for the video.
Concessions: Lisa reports that we made $1,045.00 which is less than last year due to less cold weather and less Friday games. Lisa will send a thank you to Double Dave's for their pizza rolls. Jhaki Gonsalvez has volunteered to take over concessions for next year. Lisa will help her.
Scholarships: Information and forms have been posted on the website for students wishing to apply. The Holcomb and Huus families have agreed to have their scholarships as in the past.
Banquet: The date is set for 4-16-09. The students should wear nice attire.
Coach’s fundraiser: Cookie dough may be picked up on 3-30-09 after school. Coach also asks players to turn in uniforms at this time. There will be banquet forms available during this time.

VI. New Business: Discussion for scholarship terms will be added to agenda for next meeting.

Coaches gifts: There is a limit of $500.00 that may be given to each coach. If a check is given the taxes must be taken out. We could also give a gift card. We have budgeted $900. Trish Broz makes a motion to give each coach $450.00. Second motion is made but motion fails by vote. Lisa makes a motion to give $500.00 for coach Miller and $400.00 for coach Pittman. A second is made by Susan Lisheron and motion passes by membership. Maria will check on taxes to be sure.

Trish Broz will check to make sure yearbook pictures were done for the team.

Susan Lisheron will send in information for the next Bowie Bulletin
