Booster Club Meeting Minutes 10-6-2010

  1. The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm in the cafeteria by Susan Lisheron, President. There were 13 people in attendance. (Susan Lisheron, Brenda Schmitt, Trish Broz, Kris Bloomfield, Jan Sprayberry, Linda Gibeaut, Mariann Danielson, Jessica Mahaffey, Ken Reed, Michelle Orlando, Lisa Munden, Mary Henderson, and Maria Paredes).
The minutes from the last meeting that was held on May 19, 2010 were reviewed and approved.
  2. Treasurers Report:
Maria Paredes, Treasurer reported on last years Net Loss which was a -$1,231.15. With the scholarships that were paid in 2010, the Total Equity is 1,048.39. Maria also covered the Profit and Loss Budget vs Actual Budget for August 2009-July 2010 and a purposed budget for the 2010- 2011 year. Maria covered the income for Bulldogs and Hotdogs. With the purchase of mini soccer balls, it brought the gain to $345.35 from Bulldogs and hotdogs. A motion was made to approve the budget and it was approved by the membership.
  3. Old Business: There was not any old business to cover as we are just beginning a new year.
  4. New Business:
    1. Booster Club Membership- It was discussed that the form being used was an old form from last year (people who joined in a higher level would be receiving a Polo or T-shirt as a gift for membership), we are low on supply of shirts and would thus have to order just to give as a gift for membership. It was voted and approved to change the form and no longer offer a gift other than a web site listing if wanted for the Business Membership. The other levels are just the membership. At the time of the meeting, Maria had received 4 memberships and 3 more members joined tonight.
    2. Susan Lisheron, President, explained the possibility of only having 2 teams (Varsity and JVA) this year as they are short a JVB coach. It was discussed that one of the qualifications is it must be an AISD employee. Brenda Schmitt volunteered to email Coach Sindt at Gorzychi MS and see if he has any interest in the position. Others will contact Susan Lisheron if they have ideas of possible coaches.
    3. Discussions of possible Fall Fund raisers- Susan Lisheron suggested we check into winter hats as she has seen at Anderson HS. Maria Paredes made two suggestions. One was the calendar that we have done the previous two years. Her suggestion was that we raise the add/sponsor donation to $100.00 from $75.00 that we did last year. That would give us 10 adds at $100.00 each making a profit of $1,000. Her second suggestion was to hold a 3v3 for younger ages. The problems were discussed as to why last years 3v3 did not go over and it was thought that if we do it for younger ages, there will be more advance participation. Noel Gonzalves was the organizer last year, so Maria is going to talk to him about possibly helping out or at least ideas for setting it up and making it go. Mary Hendersen also made a suggestion that we have a t-shirt vendor on sight to sale t-shirts and give the club a portion of the profits. This is something that needs to be moved on quickly as it will take preparation. Some possible dates for the 3v3 were over the Christmas Break or right before school gets out for the holidays.
    4. Volunteer positions needed-
      1. Organizing uniforms- Trish Broz volunteered to head up sorting the uniforms at the school in the shed on Friday, October, 22nd. She will contact coach Miller or other coach to get the key to the shed. Lisa Munden and Kris Bloomfield plan to meet her that day and help out.
      2. Pre-Season Pizza Party-The date for the Pre-season Pizza party will be Dec. 9th. Kris Bloomfield will double check with Coach Miller and also reserve the Cafeteria from 5:30 – 7:00. Michelle Orlando, Lisa Munden and Kris Bloomfield will help organize the pizza party.
      3. Video- Ken Reed volunteered to help out with videoing of the games (pending his son is on the team). We are also looking for other volunteers to take on editing the recordings and putting together the slide show and gathering all Senior's information. No one really stepped up to do the later, so we are still in search of volunteers.
      4. Car Wash- It was suggested that we all start saving our old towels and rags now. It was also suggested by Trish Broz that we contact the manager at Goodwill soon and set a date as others have been turned away recently. Susan Lisheron said she would call soon.
      5. Scholarship Committee- Susan Lisheron mentioned that we need 2 volunteers that do not have sons that are Seniors to be on the committee. No volunteers were identified for this yet. Trish Broz did suggest that possibly we not give as much scholarship money, or award so many scholarships as the money may be better used to benefit ALL the soccer players not just those seniors getting scholarships. Susan Lisheron said we will asses the needs of the team and talk with Coach Miller to see if money is needed else where.
  5. Susan Lisheron announced the next meeting to be held Wednesday, Nov. 3rd, 2010.
  6. The meeting was adjourned and all business approved by the membership at 8:00pm
