Booster Club Meeting Minutes 01-20-2010

Present:  David Luttrell, Lisa Fields, dolly Prince, Amy Fowler, Mariann Danielson, Linda Gibeaut, Terrie Marquette, Susan Lisherson, Noel Gonsalvez, Suzanna Ammenheuser, Jim Ammenheuser, Marisella Delgado, Roberto Delgado, Mary Henderson, Maria Stuart Paredes

  1. President David Luttrell called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m.

  2. The minutes from the last meeting, December 16, 2009, were reviewed and approved by the membership.  David asked for introductions since we have several new attendees.

  3. The treasurer’s report was reviewed.  The booster club has given the coach a check for $1,000.00 for uniforms.  There are still a few membership checks to be deposited.  We are $300.00 short from our budgeted amount for memberships.  The current balance is $2,946.24.  After review, the treasurer’s report was approved by the membership.

  4. Coach Comments –
    • The Varsity team is 8-1 preseason, district play starts next week.
    • The JVB has their last tournament this weekend at Akins.  Games are at 11:30 on Thursday and 2:00 on Friday.
    • One parent asked about the absences.  Coach Miller explained that they are excused and they will have 4 days to make up the schoolwork.
    • The new warm ups for the JVB team arrived today.
    • Coach has received about 50% of the checks he needs to hold for uniform return.
    • The fundraiser this year will be either cookie dough or discount cards.

  5. Old Business
    • Membership – Susan Lisheron reports that we are still getting new memberships.  Her and Roberto have made a poster to take to games showing the amount of memberships so far and our goal.  They will also have membership forms available at the games.
    • Calendar – Mike Jones reports that there have been 9 sponsorships sold as of tonight.  Each family and sponsor will receive 3 calendars.  Team pictures were made yesterday, these will be sent to Maria for printing.
    • Concessions – The Spectrum Company is still set to sell concessions at our games at Burger.
    • Scholarship application – We discussed volunteer hours for the players.  There is concern that the players may have a hard time getting the hours if the booster club is not able to have fundraisers that require volunteers.  A motion was made to amend this year’s application to say that there will be “strong consideration given to players that have service hours”.  David will reword the application.
    • Homecoming/Senior night – This year due to scheduling and spring break we will have Homecoming and Senior night together on March 12.  Seniors have reported that they will be in town for this game, which is the last day before spring break.
    • Senior pictures – Suzanna and Jim would like to have pictures from players by February 1.
    • Spring fundraisers – A tentative date of March 6 has been set to schedule the car wash at Goodwill.  A motion was approved for David to ask Goodwill for use of their facility on Brodie.  We are still considering a 3v3 tournament in the spring if we can get it scheduled at a good time.  Mary Henderson suggests that Jersey Mikes Subs may donate a percentage of their sales for a certain day; we could possibly use this as a fundraiser.

  6. New Business
    • Banquet – David reports that Creekside Pavilion is available on Thursday, April 22.  The price would be the same as last year, $14.95 per person (not the players) and the hall fee will be waived.  A motion was made and approved to set this date with Creekside.  We will make a flyer with banquet information to hand out at games.
    • Election of officers – We will start taking nominations for officers for next year.  David will send an email to all families.
    • Hoodies – There is a request to order some hoodies so David will send an email to ask for orders.

  7. Next Meeting – The next meeting will be February 17th.

  8. Meeting adjourned
